University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center

The University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center is a new 11-story medical building for the residents of Prince George’s County, Maryland. With a drive to improve medical care, this 220-bed facility replaces an outdated building past its prime.

The architect, Wilmot Sanz, Inc., selected the MM Systems Dual Interlocking Hinge (DIH) for two primary reasons. First, with the updated capabilities throughout the facility, they wanted a system that would provide comfort for patients continually transported through the hospital complex on gurneys and in wheelchairs. A smooth, seamless transition in the joints provides a virtually bump-free ride for their patients.

The second reason they selected our system was longevity and durability. While the patients come and go, the building experiences heavy wear and tear over long periods of time. An extremely durable joint provides service for many years of high-traffic use without disturbance.
