The Barclay at Southpark – Plaza Deck

The Barclay at SouthPark is a luxury senior living community in the desirable SouthPark district of Charlotte, NC. The comfortable living space offers a wide variety of floor plans and amenities. The property also offers a high-quality exterior of precast stone and brick that requires minimal maintenance and provides an attractive outdoor living space.

A luxury design requires careful attention to detail, and expansion joints in the plaza are no exception. MM Systems had several on-site meetings with LS3P Architects, Choate Construction, and Palmetto Waterproofing to navigate the unique design requirements for this project. The plaza at the front of the building used a combination of a double-layer Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Foam Seal (EVA) and an Under-Slab PYRO-FLEX^® Fire Barrier System (UPF) for a fireproof and watertight assembly.

Our Fire Rated Seismic Silicone & Impregnated Foam System (SIF-FR) was used on exterior joints of the building. The SIF-FR provides a flame-resistant watertight seal. Because it conforms to irregular sized openings, it’s ideal for working with the brick and stone exterior.
