The Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) needed to meet the needs of a growing education system, relieve overcrowding at existing facilities, and create new parking options for employees and the community alike. The solution was a mixed-use facility with the first and fourth floors providing community spaces including a café and conference rooms while the second and third floors are used entirely for parking.
A mixed-use facility such as this needs careful consideration for both safety and functionality—the integration of the expansion joints were no exception. Rubber Safety Cover System (RSC) were installed at the entrance driveways to help compensate for surface movement and expansion. The slip-resistance surface creates added safety for pedestrian traffic. Decorative Surface Mount Metal Cover Systems (SP) were strategically placed across the pedestrian walkways as well to help create a clean and aesthetically pleasing sightline for the walkways.
